Valencia Elementary is A Vital Part of our Community

What is Real about our school

We are Happy.

YouthTruth survey results show that students, staff, and families reported overall satisfaction across key areas, including engagement, belonging, safety, and school culture.

Families want to be here.

Valencia is the 4th highest enrolled elementary school in the district. Every year we have a tremendous amount of applications and accept over 100 transfers within the district alone.

We are at the heart of our community

Valencia isn’t just a school—it’s a cornerstone of our community. Our teachers lead the way in environmental stewardship, inspiring students to be ocean guardians and sustainability leaders through environmental initiatives.

We move the Mark.

Valencia consistently performs well above the state average in both English and Math proficiency, demonstrating strong academic outcomes across grade levels. Within PVUSD, it stands as the highest-performing elementary school in these areas, reflecting a sustained commitment to instructional excellence and student achievement.

We have a tremendous staff.

Valencia is home to a dedicated and experienced staff, many of whom have spent years—if not their entire careers—serving the school community. Their consistency fosters stability and a deep understanding of students’ needs. Each day, they bring genuine care and commitment into their classrooms, creating a supportive and engaging environment where students can thrive.

We Make it work.

Over the past two years, the district eliminated both Home & School Club–supported reading aides and district-provided aides. Despite serving a student population with 46% socioeconomic need and operating with one of the lowest elementary budgets in the district, we continue to make meaningful gains in student success.

What the District is Saying Behind Closed Doors

Our Enrollment is Down

PVUSD says that Valencia’s enrollment is declining. Here are our enrollment numbers from the last few years:

Current - 488 students

24-25 - 487 students

23-24 - 487 students

22-23 - 488 students

21-22 - 475 students (COVID)

Our Facilities are not worth fixing

Our school, built in 1928, has a rich history and longstanding presence in the community. While we supported Measure M to fund necessary facility upgrades, the reality is that all schools in the district need repairs, and Valencia is not the highest-need site. Despite this, the district is spending millions on amenity-focused projects rather than addressing the critical, day-to-day maintenance issues that directly impact students and staff.

Larger Schools are Better

PVUSD argues that consolidating schools would increase enrollment at each campus to over 700 students. The district claims this larger student population would make it possible to offer a wider range of academic and support services.
